Evidence contends that dietary macros are essential determinants of cancer risk and tumour behaviour. However, although these associations are captivating, considerable inconsistencies are evident in the literature and anecdotally. Fundamental to evaluating the significance of macronutrient ratios and tumour growth is knowledge about the evolution of cancer--which may highlight that a dogmatic emphasis on 'food as medicine' may be doing more harm than good.
